In my opinion this comparision can not be made unless a person have a chance to see all of the media outlets by themselves and think over them. There are many “low rated” media objects in the world as well as in Turkey. However not all, actually only the good ones can be visualized world-wide. Only the ones which can be powerful (in this I accept that only that power can be attained by good work, not only the money that they have from beginning or the one that they earned by doing something else) can go outside of their area and be able to contact with other cities aswell.

Let’s consider two good newspapers that we all might know. Hürriyet and the Times are good at their jobs which can be told by the works they achieved. However what I can say about these two are obvious. Although they provide good and true information about what is happening around, in Hürriyet there are many information which can be considered as unnecessary. We all know it as 3. page and it makes people nervous and unhappy for no reason. There can be some warnings in there which will make people know about those facts but showing the results of it, mostly death, makes people’s lives even worse. However in most of foreign newspapers you can not obverse them that often. In my opinion some people who can actually work on it and handle the situation must have the power to see those instead of all.

That’s my only concern about the difference in Turkish and foreign media. Other than that considering the fact that creating media have some unseen rules and exceptancy in common, all of them try to fulfill it as much they can.

Media is a way to inform people about the incidents which happens around them. The presentation of these events should be similar in many ways, at least the context, when we compare different media outlets; because of the fact that its for people to get information. For example if a newspaper talks about an incident as a development and the other one in the same city talks about it in a way of going back; it won’t be good because many people don’t read more than one newspapers. With that there will be only a point of view of the writer and it’s influence will be huge on readers. Only the consumers of more than one outlets will be able to think about it clearly because of having different opinions and capibility of thinking over all.

However this is something which can’t be avoided easily.  Since the owners, writers, producers are human beings; their ideas will be in there no matter what will happen. Also, in some advertisements of news; they say that they are the most neutral ones while producing the news. That’s a quite important fact and something which can’t be attained easily. Even in books, novels this is something which is accepted even before reading it. Even if the writers talks about their past, they have the fear of not being liked and if it’s their own lives, they can go for some events which didn’t happen.

The influence of the creator of the media makes people uncomfortable mostly if its about politics because some people have some lines which don’t be willing to pass and when they read what they believe or know wrong, it makes them feel uncomfortable. It’s not only makes them feel in that way but with this way the real aim of media goes out of their boundries.

Films are a way for people to communicate with other. Its a platform for them in order to share their ideas in a visual way which is more effective for understanding and most of the time the prefered way, because people can be a bit lazy to read.

By the time, things started to change and the main aim started to become to earn money. Of course it is important for people to think of money because of the fact that it is the only way to survive by yourself in their lifes without doing anything against the laws. However this idea got into many areas of life and it started to effect art. This is the place where the free ideas and sometimes the wild ideas comes out which we can’t think of having them prisoned. In order to earn money, filmmakers started to use commercials in their films in order to secure some sellings after the movie. Some examples can be given for that such as Jurassic Park. That was my favourite movie when I was young, and at that time I didn’t even think of a commercial in the movie although I watched it about 6-7 times. However someone have to show it to you in order for you to see that by yourself. There is a scene wheere one of the child characters go and see the gift shop in the park itself. According to the documantry we watched it was for increasing the sellings of those items. When I watched it what I saw was the dreams of one of the character in the film, but that one makes sense aswell. Another example can be given from the Truman Show which is a film in a film about commercialism. In the whole movie there are pieces of adds such as the wifes talking of the new knife and its abilities by showing it to her husband (Truman) as if she was in an add. Moreover Truman’s friend’s 6 beers which he brings to him and talks about it.

In my opinion film sectory is not a way to earn money, at least its main goal shouldn’t be to earn lots of money and don’t pay much attention on movie itself.

In Turkey there are many possible newpapers and television channels which can be bought, watched or shortly consumed. However noone can talk about the fact that these media products give or use the real facts all the time. It’s nearly impossible to say this by being hundred percent sure.

For example when you ask many people what they watch when they go to their houses as news, the high percentage of their answers will be Show TV, Channel D, ATV or Star. However for me and my parents our choices are not those anymore. Althoug their presenters and producers are really important and well known people in Turkey, they go for more than the necessary. That’s why me and my parents go for NTV for such reasons. When you watch Show TV (only for sake of an example) you watch rapes of children etc aswell with international news. However in my opinion these are not the facts which we have to every day. In Ntv you can’t see them very much. They will go for international news aswell. This is not a way to escape or not want to see and go for the solve these problems but its unnecessary to see them every single day.

Moreover I won’t be able to tell such things about the newspapers with a confidence because I am not a very huge fan of newspaper reading. However people go for Hürriyet and Milleyet as I do when I read a newspaper. But not the magazine parts. I don’t like the fact that their daily life is a part of ours too and we can be able to read them. However thats a problem of not only Turkey but whole world I guess. In addition to this, I can say few more about newspapers. For example the sport newspapers can’t be reliable too much. Many of them, especially in trade session of soccer league, create fake news about who will be playing on the next session with which team. That’s why I don’t read most of the sport newspapers in Turkey which are only about sport.  

Does news have to be presented in a formal way? Is that a must? Or are there any other ways which can be done aswell?

In the reading we had this week, one of the ideas were presenting the news in an informal way which might interest some people who wouldn’t try to understand or care it if presenting way hadn’t been in that way. Everyone’s education level can’t be same and assuming the fact that it is, won’t get us far. What I try to say is people have to meet in a common place, like not a hard language or a very easy one. By doing that they can take attentions of more and more people which will lead to having more people having ideas about what is happening around them.

Moreover, giving the news in a funny way won’t hurt anyone but in my opinion increase the viewer number in a huge way because it won’t be a place where people will afraid to see what other bad things happened around them that day after a hard work day. You can’t give out all the news in that way but some can be done.

All the developments, discoveries were made in order to make people’s daily life easier and more enjoyable by letting them have more time for their own. When television was discovered, it was a new communication system which enabled ideas, knowledge to get into the houses of families without asking for anything such as money and permission aswell. And this was a great chance for all the watchers to learn more and be a better person for themselves and for their countries.

However by the time, the education aim of the television started fade. The owners of the channels started to race with each other about who was wacthed more and so on. This made them go for the most enjoyable movies or let’s say in general “piece of art”. This is quite a waste of time when we consider what types of channels we watch every single hour. In addition to this, every member of the community have different choices about what they prefer to watch. This made them buy their own TV and spend their time alone without being socialized by other people.

We have to take a second in our daily rush and let ourselves a chance to see what we are fighting for and what might be the end of the road. It might be quite unhappy ending which noone want, but it might give us a chance to change where we are going before its too late

When you asked a child about what they want to be in future; in past, the answer would be to be a doctor or an astronout. However, the environment that children raised in started to change. The quality of job, what you do to help society, become less important each day. The aim became to be rich and famous. It was like a madness which can’t be avoided easily. The whole moral values started to collapse and gave up it’s importance in human lives. People started to do the things that probably embarrass them but in order to reach that spot it’s not like that anymore. When you turn on the television on mornings, you can watch people arguing about nearly a huge nonsense for hours and hours. Attending to shows and making noise in there by having fights and using it for a long time to be on television, to be in sight of people is another example of this. Moreover, none of them want to get over their problems and hold on to it as long as they can.

People have to hold on to their moral values in order to not forget who they actually are.

Media is a product of human communication system which was got into our lives after the huge tecnological developments. It has quite few variety of those which gets into our daily life, our houses, our cars…

One of the advantages of media is to take us away from daily lives which creates mostly some things to struggle with. These things make people uncomfortable because more thing come up every single day and after a while it will start to be seem like it won’t stop at all. Listening to music, watching a movie makes people to get away from those. It’s kind of a port which people can rest during their journeys. However it can be deceiving as it is in “Enormous Radio” story. Wife forgets about the real life of her and builds her life on radio. It makes her get away too much which makes her forget what her real life is. Fights between her husband all reborn after the break down of the radio. It can be very harmful to her and her family.

We should not forget the fact that media is only for amusement (not news etc) and it must not take us from real life and put us into a fantasy.

Throughout the history, in the family, man was the one with power who did the work that need that. Women was mostly at home handling the house-work; cooking dinner, washing dishes and etc.

With the development in science and tecnology; some changes in the division of labor of the family had also got into a development phase. Women started to work and bring food, money; simply started do the works of men. The money is the key to buying and this power was a chance to decide what to do with their lives and in case of a family, deciding for them aswell. Before the phase of earning money of women, men had more power on such decisions. This also changed and couples started to talk over those things and decide with two, but not one.

In my family, my mother is a proffesor at Istanbul University, my dad is a doctor. Also, I have a little sister aswell. My parents, both of them earn a good amount of money which is a plus to family’s economy. However, some things hadn’t chance much. Most of the time my mother is the that cooks, goes to shopping (for food), takes my sister from school on fridays. But I can’t say that my dad doesn’t do anything at all. He also goes to shopping on weekends, takes care of my sister’s homeworks and sometimes buys cooked meal for dinner to give my mum a chance to relax.

This should be the way of living together, sharing the works and letting all to have chance to rest and enjoy life. I like the way they live and what I like more is, asking for my opinion aswell. Since my 20 years old, they talk to me like an adult and give chance to me with the decisions for my family, the place that I live in and have peace.

When a child comes to world, the family is the only place for learning the world around him for few years until the recognition of another world around him by the start of going out to streets for playing and the school. But for a long time thats the place where people learn the basics from their parents.

This learning is essential because the new borned children dont have an idea about anything around him. However this learning has to end after a while. The time for it can’t be easily named but it’s also neccessary that parents have to stop teaching the kid their values. It’s obvious that family is the basic and the smallest constitution of learning and safety but overproctection and “overteaching” won’t help the kid at all. After a point, the boy/she have to find their own way of looking of world and although having some basics from their parent’s values or they will continue living their parent’s lives. That’s not ok, because every person is an individual and each have to have a chance to choose their own lives.

Family helps their child in order to be successful and not fail the subjects that they did in their lives. However helping after an extend won’t help anyone becuase on of the good ways of learning is to experiencing them by themselves.

It sounds a bit frightening but when a person hears from his / her parents, it might help them to avoid the mistake for once or twice if they are lucky. Becuase words are not permanent, they can be forgetted easily. And the parent’s continuosly repeating won’t be nice after a while and it even might end at going for it beacuse of “rebelling” to the family.
